NeoPets: The Neopian Stockmarket
If I'm wrong / out of date, email me and I'l sort it out asap.
With a bit of luck and some money for investment, you can raise up to half a million Neopoints in two weeks!!

"IMPORTANT! - Please do not try and cheat the market by either having multiple accounts, or by getting an entire guild to buy shares to artificially inflate the stocks. The stock market is a one player game and trying to get multiple people together to buy is NOT ALLOWED and will result in accounts being frozen."

Why do it?:

OK, so its your first time you have seen the owner of that enviable red sports car that always cuts in front of you in the lunch time rush hour, and you decided to you wanted a slice of the cake. Well, its pretty easy in Neopia-land; no companies EVER go bankrupt, and if you buy at the lowest possible stock value, they can only increase in value!! Think of planting money trees!!

Buying:

Currently, the maximum total numbers of shares you can buy each day is 1000. So everyday, buy 1,000 shares of a 15NP value stock, (that is all you are allowed) which means > 15,000NP needed per day! Of course, more will be needed the next, so start saving!

The best place for stock fishing, is the Bargains page. Use the link here or the NeoPets toolbar - http://www.neopets.com/stockmarket.phtml?type=list&bargain=true - . Here, they list all the best stocks at the lowest values, and unlike the Shop Wizard, *this* bargain finder shows ALL the results! Nifty, huh? Simply click the ticker symbol of the company you want to invest in, then hand your money over, and voila; sit back and watch the mah-hoolah roll in!

Selling:

Yes, stock prices rise, but when they do, they fall too! So they best thing to do is to set yourself a selling goal. Say, if the stock value goes over 40 or 50, you sell it before it dives again. Nothing lasts forever. Sometimes though, it pays to gamble. E.g. Once, I sold TPP for 73! Soon after, it plumetted down to 30. Phew!

To sell your growing shares, simply use the "Sell" form on NeoPets. Any shares you do not wish to sell, leave at "0". You needn't sell ALL you shares in a company in one go - you could sell half and hedge your bets. After you sell, a report should come up uwith a summary of your earnings.

What if they don't grow?!:

Well, if you are patient, they will eventually. If you bought something for say, 18NP per share, *silly you* because that means it could lose 8NP per share before it starts earning you money. If you want that share badly, just wait till it deflates to 15 or 16 NP, then buy. It's not worth gambling! Just be patient!!

What if I lost money in a company?:

If the worst happens to a 16NP share and it actually goes down to 15 (I've personally never seen this) Just buy lots more of that company to cover your losses. Although, if you are buying safe, this should only happen once in a blue moon. And anyways, it IS only NP you are dealing in; not as if you lose your pet, or account if you cheat!!

Summary of tips:

  • Never buy anything over 18NP per share
  • Always buy 1,000 of a single stock each day
  • Always check your portfolio everyday in case you spot a share that needs to be sold
  • Cut any losses by buying more of the same stock.
  • Try and keep a varied portfolio; don't invenst all your savings on one stock.
  • Remember it's just a game!
